Keeping my anxiety under control…

During the day I keep busy with all the things because in the DOING I feel more in control. During the day I can give myself the pep talks, remember all the things I have to be grateful for even now, and remind myself that I am made for times such as these. But at night? I go to sleep just fine only to wake with the weight of the world on my shoulders. In sleep, the stress finds me and I wake to having to remind myself again of all the things I know in my waking hours.

It may sound dramatic but we are literally GRIEVING the loss of normal right now. So give yourself a break if the anxiety feels like it is taking over sometimes.

Me? I handle it pretty well all day and then while I’m sleeping the anxiety creeps in.

Each night gets a little better as I learn to navigate the crazy times we find ourselves living in and each night will keep getting a little better from here because I am taking care of myself each day, even as the anxiety doesn’t feel quite so heavy.

Here are some things that are helping me right now:
• self-care
• guided meditation ⠀
• daily gratitude journaling⠀
• moving my body
• ice cream⠀
• planning for and working on personal goals

I’d love to hear some of what you are doing right now too. Head over to my Instagram or Facebook and let me know what is working for you. And, sis, hang in there! You are made of tough stuff and you have made it through days worse than this.
